What Should I Do, an Online MBA or an Offline MBA With Job Experience?

If you have decent work experience (around 5 years) and are already set well in a career, and the motive of your MBA is simply to advance in the career, then an online MBA makes sense.

Offline MBA on the other hand is better for those who wish to start a career or want to switch career lines.

Online vs Offline MBA

The debate between an online and offline MBA has been raging a lot on the internet. Those who have done an offline MBA will advise you to follow them, and those who are doing an online MBA will ask you to repeat their choice.

However, the decision is not based on either MBA’s superiority but lies in the career that you wish to follow.

Online MBA Best Suited For Experienced Working Professionals

Online MBA is best suited for people who can lift their own careers. These are working professionals like me, or those who wish to do an MBA to simply move ahead in their career.

Typically, those with a working in a certain career path like Marketing, have a good experience with it and know the real life aspects of this career. This is why they do not need more practical experience but rather need the “degree” to prove their knowledge.

These people can easily lift careers, make job changes, get promoted, start entrepreneurship and even switch companies without the need of any external help.

Special Cases for Online MBA

A special case is also for those candidates who cannot afford an offline MBA due to their financial situation or work location.

For example, a professional working from an office in Pune cannot do an offline MBA from Mumbai even if he can pay the fees.

Another example is a person who wishes to start an online business from a remote location of the country like from a village in the western part of Odisha (say he/she is selling Flavored Taro Chips online) but cannot leave his homeplace because he/she is running the factory himself/herself.

Offline MBA is Best Suited For Freshers

Offline MBA, on the other hand, is best suited for freshers who have recently graduated in any professional course like BBA, B Com, MBBS, or Btech and want to finish their studies at once before they start their professional life.

These students need a practical touch to their MBAs which is only possible in offline college campus, factory visits, on-site internships, seminars and similar events.

What Works Best?

At the end of the article, all it matters is that what you seek in your career.

If you have a decent work experience, you can take an online MBA,. get your degree and save a lot of money.

On the other hand, a fresher should prefer an offline MBA for a better connect with the real-life aspects of his career.
